Welcome to the Silverwood Studios web site, the recording studio of musician & producer's Gavin Ralston. Situated in Newtownmountkennedy between the foothills of the Wicklow mountains and the charming coastal town of Greystones, it has a nice balance between accessibility and escapism being 40 minutes from dublin on the N11. The studio was officially opened in January 2002 and since then has worked with many different artists and bands over the years ranging from from Ronnie Drew, Luan Parle & Laura Izibor to The Blizzards, Picture House and The Last Tycoons producing albums, EP's & singles as well as music for RTE TV, TG4 & RTE radio 1.

Gavin has tour as a guitarist with The Waterboys, Sharon Shannon & Michael Flatley among others and has featured on numerous recording, many appearances on TV & Radio and countless concerts and tours. He produced a Tutor Book & DVD on trad. Irish Guitar playing for Waltons/Melbay and lectures in the College of Music and the Ballyfermot college VEC. After 20 years in the music industry he has gained a large amount of experience as a Producer/Engineer/Guitarist/Arranger and with that has built up a huge range of recording equipment & musical instruments so can offer a wide and unrivaled range of services & facilities to suit all musicians and singers under one roof. The personal touch is the most important aspect of what the studio offers and as such we're more than happy to offer advice regarding a recording session including how to work out a budget, hiring extra musicians or suggest musical directions/influences and once the music is recorded we'll share our music contacts to help promote your music.

The studio is based around a digidesign Protool HD2 core 32 I/O system with SSL & Apogee A/D converters and an 8 Track ½” Tape machine. Then there's the 16 ch SSL summing mixer, Protool's Control 24 desk and outboard compressors, EQ & effects from Avalon, SSL, Demeter, TC electronic & Lexicon. Coupled with this is a collection of musical instruments all of which are available for artists to use during sessions: 22 acoustic & electric guitars, 8 electric guitar amps, Mandolin, Banjo, restored vintage Broadway upright piano, a working Hammond C3 with Leslie cabinet, 3 Keyboards, 7 midi modules, 3 samplers, a big bag of percussion toys & silly amount of stomp effect pedals (40).

The studio offers a wide range of services from album/ep/single production, demo sessions, Mixing, Mastering, artist developement programme, song writing, song/music arranging, Voice Overs/ backing tracks & musician hire. The studio is available on a per hour/ per day basis or per project/ song basis and also has the Silverwood house band available for recordings featuring Aongus Ralston (Mundy/Sharon Shannon) on Bass, Johnny Boyle (Frames/Pug Wash) on Drums and Geoff Woods(Picture House/Luan Parle) on Piano/Keyboards.
