Welcome to the Silverwood Studios web site, a recording studio & home of musician Gavin Ralston. It is situated in Newtownmountkennedy between the foothills of the Wicklow mountains and the charming coastal town of Greystones and it has the balance between accessibility and escapism (20 miles from dublin). The studio was opened in January 2002 and has produced many albums across different musical genres well as EP/singles, TV & Radio music, backing tracks, demos & Tutor CD's.

Because Gavin has been in the music business for many years he has built up a huge range of musical instruments & recording equipment and with his experience as a Producer/Engineer/Multi instrumentalist, the studio can offer a wide and unrivaled range of services, facilities and experience all in one place. The studio prides itself on customer relations & the personal touch offering advice, knowledge & music contacts especially as the Irish music scene is very small!

Gavin has been a professional guitarist for over 20 years having tour the world with The Waterboys, Sharon Shannon, Michael Flately, Picture House & many trad. artists and has featured as a session musician on many recording, countless appearances on TV & Radio and huge amount of concerts and tours. Coupled with this he has a rather large & slightly obsessional collection of musical instruments & studio equpiment: 22 acoustic & electric guitars, 8 electric guitar amps, Silly amount of effect pedals & Efx units (40), Mandolin, Banjo, Yamaha Drum kit, a big bag of percussion toys, fully restored vintage Broadway upright piano & a fabulous working Hammond C3 with Leslie cabinet c/w foot pedals, 3 Keyboards, midi modules & samplers, vintage tape & analog delays, 3 outboard reverb units, valve mic amps, outboard compressors/eq/preamps & 1/4” tape machine.

The studio offers a wide range of services: Audio Recording, Production, Mastering, song writing, song/music arranging, tape/Dat/Vinyl transfer/ Voice Overs/ backing tracks. The studio is available on a per hour/ per day basis or per project/ song basis.
